TIDBITS

Historic Preservation Building

This month in conjunction with the Historic Preservation Commission, we are featuring:

Ball House
1117 Jefferson Avenue

Mary Ethel Ball, who became Dean of Women at CU, lived in this home with her parents, Harry and Nettie. Built in 1909, the wood framed structure rests on a stone foundation. Frank Carveth was the next owner. He died in the 1920 rail accident on the “Kite Route” that connected Louisville to Denver and Boulder. His wife, Mary, and their daughters continued to live in the house.
