DBA Downtown Dialogue Newsletter Premieres

The Downtown Business Association (DBA) is pleased to announce the premier issue of the Downtown Dialogue newsletter.

Four times a year the Downtown Dialogue will highlight events and happenings in Historic Downtown Louisville. In addition, we hope to spotlight local businesses, giving everyone the opportunity to get to know their neighbors a little better.

For now, the Dialogue is exactly that, a dialogue between the DBA and the downtown business community, but our goal is to have the Dialogue reach a larger audience. The Louisville DBA is going to start a campaign to gather e-mail addresses and turn the Dialogue into a marketing vehicle for Historic Downtown.

Help us out! Keep us informed of events and fun happenings at your business. Send your information to info@louisvilledba.com.

What is going on in Louisville

Join us December 3rd at Empire Restaurant to hear City Manager Malcolm Fleming discuss what is happening in Louisville now and in 2009. This final DBA membership meeting of 2008 is an opportunity to ask Malcom questions and join your fellow DBA members in a discussion of issues which matter to you. This meeting is open to the public. See you there!

Louisville Street Faire Wins 2008 Governor’s Award for Downtown Excellence

The DBA is proud and very excited to announce the Louisville Street Faire has won the 2008 Governor’s Award for Downtown Excellence in the Best Promotional Event category.

The Governor's Awards for Downtown Excellence is an awards program that recognizes the progress being made in revitalizing Colorado's historic downtown and neighborhood business districts and the contributions these districts are making to Colorado's quality of life and economy.

The Colorado Community Revitalization Association (CCRA) is hosting its annual conference in Steamboat this fall, where the awards will be presented on September 18, 2008.

Deb Krueger (Crazy Horse Salon, DBA Treasurer) and Ronda Grassi (Cadco, Inc.) will be accepting the award on the behalf of the DBA. They will also be attending seminars to gather new and fun ideas to bring back and share with the business community.

Goodbye to Some Old Friends

Longtime Historic Downtown restaurants Senior T’s and Tuliens have served their last meals. The DBA would like to thank them both for their contributions to our community.

Holiday Season Approaching

The DBA is encouraging retail businesses and building owners in Historic Downtown to begin thinking of new and fun ways to make Downtown glow this Holiday season. Holiday lights on your business or building are a great way to pitch in. The DBA purchased lights last year and donated them to the City to hang on our light posts.

Let’s continue working to make Downtown Louisville THE local destination for the holidays!

WinterSkate 2008 Coming Soon!

Driving by the Steinbaugh Pavilion, you will notice the music of summer has been replaced by the sounds of WinterSkate coming to life.

WinterSkate will be returning to Historic Downtown Louisville for it’s 5th season beginning Thursday, November 20, 2008 through Monday, February 16, 2009. Located at the Steinbaugh Pavilion, the old fashioned outdoor skating rink offers fun for everyone. Whether you are a beginner or an accomplished skater, the rink brings hours of pleasure.

WinterSkate features skate rentals, concessions and group discount rates. Be sure to check out the Boulder Creek Events website for the hours of operation and pricing - bceproductions.com.

WinterSkate Needs You!

Boulder Creek Events is looking for responsible, punctual, and hard working individuals to help with the daily operations of WinterSkate in Louisville and at FlatIron Crossing. Responsibilities include helping with customer service, skate rentals, concessions sales, and ice maintenance.

If you are interested in seasonal employment from November 18, 2008 - February 16, 2009, please call Boulder Creek Events at 303-449-3137 for further information and an application.

Free Carriage Rides in Louisville Return!

Close your eyes for a moment and listen to the sounds of holiday music coming from the outdoor skating rink. You can hear the blades gliding across the frozen surface. Feel the brisk winter air on your face and even perhaps the soft touch of new snow falling. As you listen closely, you begin to hear the clopping of horse’s hooves on a new winter’s night and wonder if you have been transported to another place and time.

When you open your eyes, you will find yourself in Downtown Louisville! The Downtown Business Association will once again be sponsoring free carriage rides around our town. Rides will begin Friday, November 21, from 5pm to 9pm at the WinterSkate rink. Please be sure to check the DBA website for all the times and dates. louisvilledba.com
